Author Guest Post: Heather Hummel, Author of Write from the Heart

In association with Chick Lit Plus, Jersey Girl Book Reviews welcomes back Heather Hummel, author of Write from the Heart!

First of all, let me say that I've been counting the days since the last tour to be back on your blog! I love visiting you. Since I was last here on Halloween 2011, a lot has changed for me, the biggest change is that I have transitioned from being a novelist to being a photonovelist ... yes, that's a self proclaimed word. Just a few short weeks after my last visit here, I picked up a camera again, this time a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex). I started posting pictures to my Facebook fan page and the response was overwhelming. So, then I started posting them on photography websites like Fotoblur and they received equally enthusiastic responses. Two of them were awarded featured spots. As a "newbie" on their site, I was honored. The more I share my captured images, the more recognition I'm receiving. So, from that, I've declared myself a Photonovelist since I write novels and indulge in photography. My career as a photographer is becoming a great complement to my writing and publishing career. I'm currently working on a photography book titled Life In The Iris Of The Beholder. It will be an eBook with some limited edition hardcover copies.

So, what does this all mean for my chick-lit career? I'm finishing the third in the Journal from the Heart series; it's titled Wisdom from the Heart. That follows the book that's currently on tour, Write from the Heart, and the first in the series, Whispers from the Heart. Ironically, about 5 years ago I started a novel about a photographer who takes a picture of a lake and when she processes the film she notices something odd flashing under the surface ... the story goes from there. I may need to go back and finish that novel as a stand-alone novel.

I am and always will be a novelist - adding "Photo" to the title has given my career more depth and has captivated an entirely new audience, which is a wonderful thing. Being creative 24/7 is a gift I don't take for granted. When people love my work, be it written or an image, it lets me know I've touched them in some way, and that is always inspiring!

Thank you so much for having me as a guest!

Book Description: Write From The Heart

Journals are a woman's best friend ... When Samantha Sounder quits her office manager job the day after yet another boyfriend breaks up with her, the emotional havoc of these two events launches the beginning of her new life. Samantha dives into therapy with Ragnar Axel, a traditional therapist who explores her failed relationships and sends her on a wild goose chase through her old journals to rediscover herself. Despite the unsettling reactions of her best friend, Amanda, and Ragnar, Samantha decides to walk away from the corporate world and follow her dream as a novelist. She sets out to craft her first novel, Winter's Truth. Hesitantly, she accepts the unexpected guidance from Craig, an unlikely man she meets at the coffee shop. Along her journey, Samantha picks up a new journal and titles it her "Positive Journal," declaring to only write positive thoughts in it. Samantha's life transforms from one of despair and loss to hope and faith as she navigates through new territory and explores the possibility of finding love over lattes.
