Book Description:
Miss Congeniality meets The Bachelor in this action-packed rom-com debut about an investigative journalist who sneaks onto reality TV only to fall for the wrong guy.
Georgia Rose is not going on the hit reality dating show Love Shack to find love. She’s there to write a killer exposé on the producers, which will guarantee the journalism job of her dreams. But when Georgia’s unforgettable one-night stand from the year before, country singer Rhett Auburn, steps into the Malibu mansion as the season’s new host, all of her carefully crafted plans unravel.
Caught up in the drama of backstabbing contestants, producer blackmail, and death-defying dates, Georgia must keep her identity—and history with Rhett—a secret. Despite the lies between them, it isn’t long before Georgia and Rhett’s heated behind-the-scenes moments start to feel more genuine than the romance Georgia’s faking for the cameras. But with her assignment unfinished and the executive producer on her tail, a second chance with Rhett could be her riskiest move of all.
My Book Review:
In Most Eligible, author Isabelle Engel weaves an entertaining debut romantic comedy novel that is a similar take on the reality show, The Bachelor.
Set in Malibu, the reader is easily drawn into this entertaining rom com as they follow Georgia Rose and Rhett Auburn as they navigate the trials and tribulations of life, love, and second chances.
Set in Malibu, the reader is easily drawn into this entertaining rom com as they follow Georgia Rose and Rhett Auburn as they navigate the trials and tribulations of life, love, and second chances.
Georgia Rose is a freelance journalist who takes on an assignment to go undercover as a contestant on the reality show Love Shack and write an expose on the executive producer's alleged misconduct. If her assignment is successful, she is promised a full-time musical journalist position.
Rhett Auburn is a country music star and past bachelor on Love Shack. He was asked to host the current season of Love Shack featuring professional tennis player Roland Marchetti. Twenty contestants and six weeks in a Malibu mansion.
Georgia and Rhett are shocked to see each other on the first night of taping the show, they had a one-night stand a year ago, and suddenly Georgia's plans to get the expose is not as easy as she thought it would be, especially with Rhett as a distraction. With drama and tensions between Georgia and Rhett escalating behind the scenes, can Georgia keep her identity hidden while trying to get the assignment completed, and get an unexpected second chance at love?
Most Eligible is such a fun romantic comedy that easily keeps the reader engaged as they follow Georgia and Rhett's story. Set in Malibu and told in the first-person narrative by Georgia, the reader follows along as their unexpected meeting on the set of the reality show helps both of them find closure from their one-night stand, and a possible second chance at finding love.
The author does a great job of describing the behind the scenes filming of the reality show Love Shack, it definitely has The Bachelor vibe, and you can't help but wonder if all the drama, emotion, angst, humor, back-stabbing, intense rivalries, crazy mishaps, and production control over how the show is filmed in this story may also really happen on The Bachelor. If you love The Bachelor reality show, then you are in for a treat when you read Most Eligible!
