The Ongoing Story
"Amber smiled as she watched Harry and Casey. About a year ago, they were still strangers to each other at her very table and now they were married and expecting a child. She looked toward Hallmann who had his eyes on Hayley and Trevor. This felt like a bonding family, just the six of them around her table." - Alaskan Nights, Amanda S. Jones
I love the idea of a series, both as a reader and a writer. In both situations I want to get to know characters intimately over a number of books, and step deeper inside their world. For me, it’s like returning home and that was the inspiration for the Aqua Series.
I thought it would be fascinating to follow characters as they explore their own lives via travel. So I created The Aqua series, an ongoing story of the cruise ship Aqua, where crew members such as Chef Amber and Captain Hallmann appear frequently, and other favourite passengers make cameo appearances. With each book in the series, the familiar characters and their stories grow and weave together more and more. Each story in the series stands on its own, but the more you read along the entire series, the more you get to know and understand the cruise ship, its passengers and regular crew members.
There’s Chef Amber, for example, who imbues much of herself into the food. We understand her connection to food, her love for cooking and the challenges she faces in her life. In each novel, Chef Amber plays a key role at a critical point - she is often the ear for a passenger, imparts wisdom to help them on their journey, or sparks a connection via food. Similarly, Captain Hallmann also plays an integral role in each storyline. And in this latest book, I've even had one of the favourite characters from my first book, Venetian Nights, return for a cameo appearance. And you’ll meet the characters from this fourth book in the series, Hayley and Trevor, in all upcoming books for the Alaskan and Caribbean series as well.
As much as there are new characters in each Aqua story, I’m always intrigued to see where familiar characters take me. And hopefully, my readers find it fun to occasionally step into the world of The Aqua and discover new adventures with these characters and engage with them on a more personal level.
I’d love to know your thoughts on the Aqua series, and how you like reading series in general. If you have any favourite characters you connected with or would like to share a story about, please email me at email@example.com. I’ve been known to name characters after my readers!

My Book Review:
In Aqua Alaskan Nights, author Amanda S. Jones weaves an entertaining romance story set on a cruise ship that is sailing along the rugged majestic coastline of Alaska.
Aqua Alaskan Nights has enough drama, humor, and romance that easily draws the reader in as they follow the crew and passengers as they embark on an Alaskan journey a la Love Boat style. The author transports the reader behind the scenes of what happens on the cruise, as well as providing a richly vivid Alaskan setting that is so breathtaking that you'll want to take an Alaska cruise. While I enjoyed the romances that develops during the cruise, I really enjoyed the humorous drama and life changes that takes place among the crew and passengers as it kept me in stitches and wanting more.
Aqua Alaskan Nights is the fourth book in the Aqua Romance Travel Series. While this book can be a standalone read, I wish I had read the first three books in the series, as there are characters who make return cameo appearances in each of the books, and I would have loved to have been able to follow the crew and passengers as they embarked on other destination romance cruises.
Aqua Alaskan Nights is an enjoyable romantic destination cruise story that is perfect to read on a lazy summer day.
