Book Description:
A woman receives an unexpected gift from the man she loved and lost—a year of books, one for every month—launching a reading-inspired journey to live, dream, and love again in this glimmering and heart-stopping novel.
Twelve books. Twelve months. One chance to heal her heart…
When Tilly Nightingale receives a call telling her there’s a birthday gift from her husband waiting for her at her local bookshop, it couldn’t come as more of a shock. Partly because she can’t remember the last time she read a book for pleasure. But mainly because Joe died five months ago....
When she goes to pick up the present, Alfie, the bookshop owner with kind eyes, explains the gift—twelve carefully chosen books with handwritten letters from Joe, one for each month, to help her turn the page on her first year without him.
At first Tilly can’t imagine sinking into a fictional world, but Joe’s tender words convince her to try, and something remarkable happens—Tilly becomes immersed in the pages, and a new chapter begins to unfold in her own life. Monthly trips to the bookstore—and heartfelt conversations with Alfie—give Tilly the comfort she craves and the courage to set out on a series of reading-inspired adventures that take her around the world. But as she begins to share her journey with others, her story—like a book—becomes more than her own.
My Book Review:
This Book Made Me Think Of You by author Libby Page is a wonderful book lovers' book, because who doesn't love a book about books!
Tilly Nightingale is a recent widow, her husband Joe Carter passed away in July from pancreatic cancer. She has a hard time processing her grief, and when her birthday comes on January 5th, she receives an unexpected call from Alfie Lane, the owner of Book Lane bookshop. Alfie asks Tilly to come to the bookshop; Joe has left her a birthday present: he picked out twelve books for twelve months along with a personal monthly letter to help her heal her heart through the grief process and learn to pick up the pieces and move forward with her life. Joe's wish for Tilly's twelve-month journey is for her to step out of her comfort zone, embrace adventures and find happiness in her life.
This Book Made Me Think Of You is a beautifully written story that will tug at the heartstrings. You can't help but cheer on Tilly as she embarks on a twelve-month journey through the grief process to fulfill a loving wish from her husband Joe to move on with her life. Each book is picked from a variety of genres that draws Tilly out of her comfort zone and encourages her to embrace a series of reading inspired adventures that will show her the world that awaits her. Along the way is an unexpected and pleasant friendship connection between Tilly and Alfie that will simply make you smile. I could relate to Tilly in so many ways, especially how she preferred reading books to social engagements, but learned to enjoy adventures in life, sometimes you have to be pushed out of your comfort zone to see what the world has to offer. I would be remiss if I didn't say how much I loved Alfie; he's a caring man that is so nice and generally wanted the local community to enjoy his family's bookshop, even when there were tough business issues. Tilly and Alfie's story was everything that I hoped it would be, their connection and conversations about the different genres of books was fun, their unexpected friendship was thoughtful and loving, and how Alfie supported Tilly's year-long journey left me content and smiling. This is my favorite book that I have read so far in 2026!
I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the amazing monthly list of book recommendations from a variety of genres to read for different scenarios that were listed at the beginning of each chapter. I wrote down every single book recommendation to look up in the future. Kudos to author Libby Page, you sure made this passionate book lover even more excited to add more books to my ever-growing TBR list!
This Book Made Me Think Of You is an enchanting book that every book lover must read, you won't regret it.
