In this installment in the series the author keeps the reader engaged as the beach friends deal with ongoing and new issues: you can't help but hope that Maris and Jason can find their way back to each other; while becoming intrigued by the possible love triangle between Elsa, Cliff, and Mitch; and feel the angst between Shane and Celia as they deal with the reality of a possible long-distance romance. At the end of the book, the author teases her readers with another cliffhanger ending: what text did Shane receive, and what does it have to do with Celia and their future? We'll just have to wait and see what is revealed in The Wait, the fifteenth installment of the series ... sigh.
