Book Description:

Is it possible to find two loves in one lifetime?

Dubbed “The Child Whisperer” by his peers, twenty-nine-year-old Jake Harris is a lollipop-sucking, video game-playing pediatrician, who moves to Seashore Cove, Long Island to start a family. What he finds is an immediate attraction to his new nurse, Kate, and a list of reasons why he has to keep his distance.

Kate Henderson is a grieving widow with two teenage boys, struggling to keep her head above water. She knows exactly why she must fight her growing desire for the new doctor, and nothing is going to change that.

But Kate’s sons think Dr. Jake is the perfect match for their mother. When they put their heads together, the duo comes up with crazy little schemes in the hopes of igniting a spark.

The teenagers succeed in throwing them together but is it enough to make their mom and the doctor tear up their lists and take a chance on love?

Book Excerpt:

Kate returned to the dining room and collected the rest of the dishes. “The boys will be right back. They went to get dessert.”

Jake jumped up and gathered the wineglasses. “Why did you do that? I have dessert at my house.”

“Of course you do. Several different kinds of anything sugary, I’m sure.” She walked into the kitchen and placed the dishes next to the sink.

Jake leaned against the counter. “Thank you for inviting me.”

Kate busied herself with filling the dishwasher, attempting to ignore the adorable way he arranged the utensils into groups. “Well, I’m a little upset with myself. I usually would’ve invited a new neighbor over long before now. I shouldn’t have waited just because you’re my boss.”

“Hey, don’t forget lunch and coffee. Maybe someday soon I can return the favor.”

She smiled at his offer. “That’s not necessary.”

“I know.” His gaze felt heavy on her face, but she wouldn’t—she couldn’t—look at him. Because she knew if she did, gooey things would happen to her, making it hard to speak. “You’re a very generous and caring person, Kate.”

Great. After all that, she felt gooey anyway. Change of subject. Fast! “You don’t go out much?” She finally braved a glance at him.

He shook his head.

“Not even with friends?”

“I don’t have any out here.”

She ran the dirty casserole dish under the stream of water. “I hadn’t realized.”

Jake shrugged.

“Well, I can think of least one person who’d love to go out with you.”

He gulped. “W-who?”

“I’ll give you a hint. She wears bright red lipstick that’s hard to get off.”

“Oh, God.” He lowered his face into his hands.

Kate grinned. “That’s really sweet.”

“What?”

“The way you are with women. You have—I dunno—there’s kind of an innocence about you.” Finished with the pots, she reached for the coffee and set it up for dessert. “And you wonder why I treat you like a kid.”

“As your boss, I feel I should leave the conversation at that, but as a man, I must say there’s a point where my innocence ends.”

Kate raised her hands in submission. “Whatever you say, Doc.” She turned on the dishwasher. “The boys should be back soon. Do you want to sit by the pool?”

“Sure.”

After grabbing a few bottles of water, they settled into lounge chairs. Damn, why did he have to pick the lounge right next to her? His hand brushed hers as he placed his bottle between them on the patio. Heat radiated up her arm. She jerked it away, staring into the sky. Fluffy pink and lavender clouds. Pretty, but not enough to get her mind off how close Jake was.

“Kate, can I ask you a question?”

“Sure.”

“What’s a MILF?”

She gripped her bottle so hard it nearly burst. He can’t be serious. “You’ve never heard that term before?”

“I have, but I’ve never figured out what it meant.”

Relax, silly, you’re an adult. Stop acting like a shy teenager. “It means mother I’d like to, um…”

He quirked a brow. “Fuck?”

Narrowing her eyes, she studied the grin on his face. “You already knew, didn’t you?”

“I just wanted to see if you’d answer me.”

She unscrewed the bottle cap from her water. “That was a bratty thing to do.”

“Brattiness is for kids.” Jake swung his legs over the edge of the lounge and leaned closer to her. “I told you, there’s a point where the innocence ends.”

Her heart pounded as the sensual waves of desire washed over her. She fought like hell not to dump the contents of her bottle over his head. Or better yet, hers, if only to cool herself down.

“I can see that.” She focused her stare on the sky again. “Kiddo.”

Jake backed away with a sigh.

Crisis averted.

My Book Review:

Crazy Little Thing Called Matchmaking is a wonderful romance story about second chances.

Author Maggie Van Well weaves an entertaining tale set in Seashore Cove, Long Island, that follows the May-December romance between Kate Henderson, a forty year old widow, mom of two teenage sons, and a pediatric nurse, and Dr. Jake Harris, a twenty-nine year old pediatrician, who recently relocated from Brooklyn Heights to Seashore Cove to take over a retiring doctor's practice.

Written with a nice balance of humor, emotion, and romance, the reader is easily drawn into Kate and Jake's story. Kate is a grieving widow, her husband William passed away from cancer four years ago, and she is still having a hard time moving forward. Kate unexpectedly meets Jake at the local hospital ER, when her thirteen year old son Drew needed stitches to his shin. Kate can't believe that this sexy younger man is her new boss, and as for Jake, he has an instant attraction to the beautiful woman before him. With an undeniable attraction growing between Kate and Jake, a work-romance relationship slowly builds thanks to Kate's two teenage sons, who try everything under the sun to get them together!

Crazy Little Thing Called Matchmaking is an enjoyable and lighthearted second chance romance tale that will keep the reader thoroughly entertained. You can't help but really like Kate, Jake, and Kate's teenage sons Drew and Alex. I found myself laughing, smiling, and cheering Kate and Jake on as their May-December romance blossomed, and as they tried to find a way to merge their two worlds together. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I loved the two boys' antics, I found myself snickering as I turned the pages, bless their little hearts. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Book Description:

Jenny Cohen defines successful independence: she put herself through college, couldn’t ask for better friends, owns a consulting firm, wears designer clothes, and just moved into her dream home . . . But she’s alone, except for her ailing mother whom she supports in a nursing home. As the marketing consultant for Chester, Dorsey & Tanner, she’s surrounded by male attention. Too bad it’s the overly-protective big-brother type.

Architect, Craig Stone, hasn’t looked at another woman since his wife passed away four years ago. His time is taken—building a career while trying to be both mother and father to his eight-year-old son. But when his appointment with the largest development firm in Nashville is double-booked with a black-haired beauty, he finds himself reaching for new possibilities.

The attraction sets off more fireworks than the Fourth of July. Yet, their relationship is riddled with issues neither one of them expected. Somewhere in the middle they must find a way to compromise or let go of a chance for love they may never find again.

Book Excerpt:

Jeffry started sifting through his calendar. Jenny casually peeked from the corner of her eye as Brandon led Craig through the lobby.

He was watching her. When his slow perusal drifted back up from her feet, his big blue eyes met hers and she melted on the spot. He’d instantly looked contrite, then winked as he passed by. She had goose bumps, despite the heat she felt from his gaze. He gave off an electric tension she’d never felt before.

She shook her head, shifting her thoughts back to the calendar while watching him disappear around the corner. “Tomorrow at noon. Two full hours. You’ll need to have a light lunch brought in,” she said.

Jeffry didn’t answer.

“I know it’s open. That’s where your temp had Mr. Stone originally.”

“How did you know that?” He chuckled, then waved his hand. “Oh, don’t answer. Yes, it’s available and I’ll push his one-thirty back, so you can have the full two hours. I’ll let Jack know you’ll be here and we’re serving food. He’ll be back in the office and might want to sit in.”

He gave her a conspiratorial grin. “By the way, his name is Craig and I got the distinct impression he liked the shoes, too. If you know what I mean?”

“Goodbye, Jeffry. I’ll see you tomorrow.” She turned and stepped onto the open elevator. Once the door closed, she leaned her head against the back wall, let out a long sigh, and willed her heartbeat to slow.

Book Description:

Book blogging today has grown into a serious business. It is a necessary marketing tool to promote books and the Book Reviewer Yellow Pages—now in its sixth edition—is the definitive guide to this informal network of book reviewers. -Author David Wogahn, President of Sellbox.com

This book is designed to make book marketing easier. The Book Reviewer Yellow Pages is a popular book promotion reference guide for authors and publishers. Use this guide to learn about book tours, author etiquette, and how to write a good pitch to grab the interest of a book reviewer.

Updated every year, this reference lists hundreds of book reviewers, their contact information, submission guidelines, and genre preferences.

Book Reviewer Yellow Pages
Foreword by David Wogahn

I wrote my first eBook in 1991. In those days, like today, it wasn’t hard to do if you had something to say and a computer to produce it. But what was hard, was marketing those early eBooks. Even if you advertised the book on a service like CompuServe, Prodigy or AOL, how would you ever find people willing to tell other people about your book?

I “discovered” the Book Reviewer Yellow Pages more than five years ago; April 29, 2011 to be exact (then called The Indie Book Review Yellow Pages). Newspapers and magazines were still employing book reviewers and “book bloggers” were considered an anomaly, given the same respect that big publishers were giving the new-fangled eBook formats like Kindle.

Fast forward to today and those same reviewers—if they are still writing reviews—most likely have started a blog (and in fact might even be in this book). An indie author trying to get reviewed by a traditional media outlet is an exercise in futility. It’s also fair to say that eBooks have made the big publishers huge profits and now form a permanent part of their publishing operations.

Book blogging today has grown into a serious business. It is a necessary marketing tool to promote books and Christy Pinheiro-Silva’s Book Reviewer Yellow Pages—now in its sixth edition—is the definitive guide to this informal network of book reviewers.

Collectively they rival the promotional power of the large circulation newspapers and magazines. Individually they can help niche books break-out to a wider audience. And that’s what book marketing is all about: helping thousands of small products in scores of categories seek and find their own passionate audience.

How I met Christy is a testament to modern book marketing, itself a lesson for new publishers. As a long-time reader of the pioneering eBook news website Teleread.com, I came across an article saying that her second edition was available for free. Free is still a popular way to connect with readers but in 2011 it was the fastest, sure-fire way to get your name and book noticed. Everyone had Kindles to fill-up and as a book marketer and author, who couldn’t use a free directory?

By the time the fourth edition was published in 2013 it had grown to a 778 page tome. Seeing an opportunity for constructive feedback, I took to Amazon reviews to voice my ideas about what makes this guide book so important for my clients, and where I thought it could be improved. I’m happy to say that Christy read that review, contacted me, and took many of those suggestions to heart.

Here are the two things you should know about the Book Reviewer Yellow Pages:
  1. It defines a standard of etiquette. Christy’s 10 rules for author etiquette should be required reading for every author, regardless of whether or not book bloggers are part of your marketing mix. I confess it is so solid that I based a section of my own book, Successful eBook Publishing (Sellbox, 2012) on her advice. The blogosphere would be a better place if every author took her admonitions to heart in all their book promotion interactions.
  2. It codifies the essential facts about a book blogger, so you don’t have to. Shouldn’t we be able to just “Google” book bloggers and fire off emails to reviewers? Nope. In reality it isn’t that easy. Trying to find the pertinent information so you can approach the reviewer who is right for your book (see point 1) is going to take you hours! There are no standard website designs for review websites, and you will need to visit each one (again, see point 1). Here is where the Book Reviewer Yellow Pages shines. Your small investment will pay big dividends in saving time in finding the relevant reviewers, and their contact information.
But one thing still remains the same, as it did for me in 1991. You simply must get people talking about your book if you are ever going to be a successful author. A book no one talks about is even worse than a book that doesn’t make money.

And that’s where this wonderful community of book bloggers comes into play. Let the Book Reviewer Yellow Pages be your Michelin Guide to the Wild West World of book review bloggers. David Wogahn President, Sellbox.com Publisher, PartnerPress.org Author, Successful eBook Publishing

Book Description:

One wedding. One curse? Disaster ever after…

A seven-years-bad-sex curse? Surely not! Yet something went wrong when rock singer Casey and drummer Alex got married on that beautiful yacht anchored off St Tropez in the south of France. Something went badly wrong. For even on their wedding night, the young couple discovers a complete and somewhat surprising inability to make love. Muddling through their honeymoon with a string of thin excuses for their predicament, the lovers defer finding a solution (and panicking) until the return to their home in London. After all, they married for life and to make rock music, not for the love of sex. Right?

But when they resume life as normal in London, all hell breaks loose. Increasingly frantic in their quest for release, the unhappy newlyweds embark on a string of hilarious and occasionally harmful antics that drives them, their band, and an assortment of random strangers to the brink of despair. But it ain’t over ‘til it’s over or, in this case… it ain’t over ‘til the newlyweds sing.

Says Nicky: This book came to me at a fancy dinner way back when in November 2013. It was a fairly drunken affair, and speeches were being made. We were all toasting each other and having fun. Then someone shouted at me. “You didn’t look at me. Argh! That means 7 Years Bad Sex.”

I don’t actually believe in curses, nor am I particularly superstitious. But at that precise moment, a story popped in my head in its entirety. The potential for entertainment with comic mishaps and other antics as a young couple tries to breathe life into their flagging romance was simply too delicious to ignore. And that’s how this book was born…

So what are you waiting for? Go and grab your copy, and the book will magically appear on your Kindle on the official release day of 14 May—not long to go.

Book Excerpt:

EXCERPT FROM 7 YEARS BAD SEX BY NICKY WELLS
RELEASES 14 MAY 2015!

There was a stunned silence in the room while Alex and Casey tried to assimilate the importance of this statement. She remembered all too well her conversation with Alex on the yacht after they had trawled through the wedding video. He had pointed out to her even then that she hadn’t looked at him.

Casey shivered. She caught Alex’s eye and saw nothing but utter confusion. Liza was still standing up, one fist raised in an air punch. Sasha had taken one of Casey’s hands into her own.

Eventually Alex spoke. ‘Maybe we didn’t look at each other. So what?’

Liza and Sasha shared another look. ‘The seven-years-bad-sex curse!’ they shouted as one.

Alex burst out laughing. ‘The seven-years-bad-sex curse?’ he repeated. ‘You’re taking the mickey, right?’

Myles was chuckling so hard, he toppled over sideways on the sofa and had to hold his stomach. ‘That’s why we had to rush over here? To tell them about a seven-years-bad-sex curse?’

‘Laugh all you want,’ Liza said calmly. ‘But you’re watching it in action.’

Casey swallowed hard. She didn’t believe in curses. They were nothing but delusory superstitions from the middle ages. But still, both Sasha and Liza looked utterly serious.

‘So—so what does that curse entail?’ Casey asked, her voice almost a whisper.

Sasha produced her smartphone and called up a website. ‘It says here,’ she said, ‘there’s a superstition in many parts of southern Europe about how not looking at each other when clinking glasses during a toast brings couples seven years bad sex.’ She angled her phone so that everyone could see the screen.

‘And you were in France when you committed this ritualistic mishap,’ Liza offered helpfully. ‘So that definitely applies.’

Book Excerpt:

Kathleen's Undressed - Excerpt

Enjoying the crisp autumn weather, they walked across the Pont du Carrousel and along the Quai Voltaire. The trees that flanked either side of the walkway were just starting to turn color; the yellow and orange leaves burst against the bright blue sky. The view across the river to the Jardin de Tuileries, revealed the trees echoing the same liveliness of color. Soon they turned down Rue du Bac, which was quite narrow, and took a quick left onto Rue de Verneuil. They arrived, and from the looks on their faces Kathleen could see that they were pleased with her recommendation.

Inside the Salle Gainsbourg, which was neutrally painted so that the art could own its’ space, the three women were seated at a long wooden table in dark leather chairs. Menu in hand, Kathleen helped Marian and Hillary make their choices, and together they fumbled through the wine list.

“Well, we mustn’t have botched it. The waiter didn’t burst into tears or look at us with utter despair!” Marian remarked when they were alone.

Gazing around at the walls covered in art, Marian focused on a collage just behind Hillary’s head and said, “The art’s okay, but I usually go for something more provocative.”

Hillary opened her mouth to say something, but Kathleen intervened, “Whatever you were going to say, just stop. We’re in Paris, at a lovely restaurant, during fashion week. Stop for just a moment and reflect on the perfectness of it all.” Dutifully, they were silent, and absorbed it for all of two seconds.

“Okay, so tell us about SĂ©bastien. Is it me, or does he remind you of Keanu Reeves?” Marian asked.

“So this room is dedicated to Serge Gainsbourg. He was a painter, musician, and actor. Very significant celebrity amongst the French. I think he was married once or twice, supposedly had tons of illegitimate children, and had an affair with Bridget Bardot. His song “Je T’eme…Moi Non Plus,” was written for her. Though he performed it with Jane Birkin, the woman he lived with for many years,” Kathleen responded, acting as tour guide and distractor.

“You know I’m just going to keep asking.” Marian said.

“Once appearing together on a Parisian talk show, Gainsbourg told Whitney Houston on camera that he wanted to fuck her. The audience loved it. Apparently, Whitney was left quite speechless,” Kathleen upped the ante, hoping Marian would fold.

“And asking,” Marian continued, strumming her fingers on the blond wood of the table.

“The man was a raging alcoholic, apparently quite revolting at times. He died of a heart attack when he was in his early 60’s, I believe. Petula Clark wrote a song for him.” Kathleen was unrelenting.

“We now know more about Serge than SĂ©bastien,” Hillary observed drily.

“He became quite a folk hero in France,” Kathleen continued her thesis.

“Serge or SĂ©bastien?” Marian asked.

“Serge,” Kathleen responded, now openly laughing.

“Boring!” Marian declared!

She was rescued by the waiter who brought the wine and poured each a small amount to taste. After nodding joint approval, he filled their glasses, leaving the bottle in the center of the table, then drifted away.

Marian raised her glass to propose a toast, “To Kathleen, for her fine taste in cities, restaurants, and men!”

After another sip, Hillary then raised her glass and proposed, “To Kathleen, and the great success she has found in Paris! To SĂ©bastien, about whom we’d like hear more! And to Marian, may we finally get to hear less!”

Choking on her wine, Kathleen’s coughing fit went unnoticed as the waiter delivered food with just a little flourish. Since they weren’t paying the homage he felt the meal deserved, he gave Marian and Hillary a stern look while Kathleen dabbed the spray of red wine off her chin.

Kathleen rattled off a great deal of praise and delight, which seemed to satisfy him. Reassuring him, Marian and Hillary offered their compliments in broken French. He politely smiled at them and with a ‘Bon Appetit’ left the table. Food and the French – very serious business.

My Book Review:

In The Accidental Series, author Celia Kennedy introduces the reader to a group of girlfriends whose lives are full of crazy antics, drama, humor, and romance.

The series begins with book one, Charlotte's Restrained, where the storyline is mainly about Charlotte Young, who meets her favorite male celebrity, actor Des Bannerman while on a ski vacation in Chamonix, France with her girlfriends: Kathleen, Hillary, Marian, and Tiziana. But when Charlotte has more unexpected encounters with the actor, she is tagged as a stalked and served with a restraining order! Charlotte's crazy adventures with her best friends will leave the readers laughing out loud!

In book two, Kathleen's Undressed, the reader catches up with the five girlfriends in Paris, France for Fall Fashion Week. The main storyline features Kathleen and her dark secrets and romance with the charming Frenchman Sébastien Langevin. But the author goes a step further and provides the reader with a fun adventure in the City of Lights following all of the girls as they wine, dine, tour, and immerse themselves in the glamorous world of high fashion.

I really enjoyed reading both books in The Accidental Series, because it celebrates the wonderful bond of friendship among the five friends, and intertwines it with an entertaining adventure in the glamorous settings in France. You can't help but get drawn into Charlotte, Kathleen, Hillary, Marian, and Tiziana's lives filled with laughter, romance, heartache, and zany trials and tribulations. I loved the banter, the adventure, the romance, and the vividly rich descriptions of the settings, it left me wanting more, I can't wait to read the third book in the series!

So if you want to go on an adventure in France and experience an exciting roller coaster ride with these lovely ladies, strap yourself in and read both books in The Accidental Series, it's chick lit at its very best!

Book Description:

You are cordially invited to read Laura Chapman’s new novel, The Marrying Type!
Always the wedding planner, never a bride, Elliot Lynch is famous for orchestrating the splashiest weddings in Charleston, South Carolina. When her father’s sloppy management practices leave them on the brink of bankruptcy, Elliot will do whatever it takes to save the family business. When asked to appear on “The Marrying Type,” a reality TV show about the people behind the scenes as couples exchange I dos, she says yes to the invasion of privacy (and the hefty paycheck that comes with it).
With a camera crew capturing every detail of her life, Elliot faces her most challenging contract yet: planning a wedding where her ex is involved in every part of the process. Add in a lazy assistant, liquor-loving bridesmaid, and rival planner encroaching on her turf, and Elliot’s wedding season goes from high-end to high-stress.
Forced to confront her past, Elliot must live out her troubled present on national TV if she has any hope of saving her future.

Book Excerpt:

Finding the bride curled up next to a toilet changed Elliot’s priorities. A rogue florist and brawling mothers paled next to a sobbing bride. Even having Libby bail last-minute meant nothing compared to this disaster.

Elliot kept her tone soft and light when she approached the bride. “Honey, let’s get you off the floor.”

The bride answered with a muffled sob. She didn’t budge. Elliot said a little prayer for strength, hoping her proximity to a chapel outweighed her distance from a toilet in God’s eyes. Elliot ignored the urge to gag—and her fear of ruining a pair of black slacks—to gingerly kneel beside the young woman.

She barely had time to prepare for the impact as the bride flung herself into Elliot’s arms. They sat in silence for several minutes, rocking back and forth. Elliot held the hysterical woman while she searched for any clues of what might have set off the bride. Unfortunately, her vantage point didn’t offer much.

The bride’s sobs turned into hiccups. Accepting a tissue, she blew her nose and murmured, “I'm late.”

“We have plenty of time.” Using one of the wipes from her wedding emergency kit, Elliot blotted the woman’s tear-streaked face to survey the damage. “We’ll call in the makeup artist and hairstylist to touch you up. You’ll be gorgeous and camera ready with plenty of time to spare.”

“No,” the bride said firmly. “I’m late.”

Elliot nearly repeated her words of comfort when she spotted an open pregnancy test on the counter. Paired with the bride’s sudden and mysterious stomach bug, and the constant stream of tears, she made the connection.

Oh, God. “You're pregnant.”

The bride sniffed. “Maybe. Probably. I haven't checked the test yet.” Her hiccups picked up. “My mother’s going to kill me. She says pregnant brides are tacky.”

She burst into a fresh set of tears. Murmuring comforting words, Elliot craned her neck to read the test results. A smiley face. Did that mean pregnant or not pregnant? She sighed. Of course it meant pregnant.

“Do you want to talk to your fiancĂ©?”

The bride shook her head, sniffing and fighting back hiccups. “It’s bad luck to see him before the wedding.”

Elliot counted to ten before speaking. “A woman makes her own luck.”

“Telling him would only make him nervous,” the bride said.

“Maybe I can pretend this is a honeymoon baby . . .”

Elliot knew she should try to talk sense into the woman. The groom was smart enough to do math. Their parents and everyone else would be able to crunch the numbers, too. But facts wouldn’t save the bride’s wedding, or make her feel any better. A fresh coat of waterproof mascara and some hairspray might.

It only took Elliot five more minutes to comfort her client. Still puffy eyed, the bride pulled herself together for another hair and makeup session to repair the damage. Leaving the cosmetologists to their work, Elliot closed the bathroom door and leaned against the frame to draw a breath.

“Crap.”

Much as she would have liked to hide behind a pew in the chapel, Elliot pushed away from the door. She had a wedding to run.

Rounding the corner, she found the TV show’s camera crew following the ongoing battle between the mothers of the bride and groom. She said a silent prayer of thanks they’d missed her situation with the bride. Unless they’d picked it up on her microphone, which was possible.

“Crap. Crap.”

If the bride wanted to convince her family and friends she’d conceived a baby on her honeymoon and not before the wedding, having the truth broadcast on The Marrying Type would undoubtedly blow her cover.

Elliot still couldn’t wrap her brain around how quickly the show had come together. What surprised her most was how fast the network released advertisements for the show. They weren’t even done filming the first episode, but ads were running every hour.

Elliot snagged Claire, her assistant, as the young woman walked by. She needed an update on the florist, who was more than an hour late.

“I haven't heard anything,” Claire said, her attention focused on the fight brewing across the room.

“Get them on the phone. We wanted the bouquets an hour ago.”

“But . . .” Claire gazed longingly toward the more exciting issue at hand.

“I'll handle the moms.” Elliot played with the pearl pendant on her necklace while she considered her various crises. “Call the florist. And grab the bride a bottle of water and some crackers from my emergency stash.”

“Want me to take her some champagne?”

“No champagne.” Claire raised an eyebrow at her terse response. Elliot cleared her throat and plastered a smile on her face.

“She’s sensitive to alcohol. One drink, and she’ll be stumbling down the aisle. We need a sober bride for the ceremony.”
