About The Author:

Born in Edmonton, AB, Kathleen began storytelling in grade school and has fond memories of passing summer afternoons on the swings in her backyard, creating tales that entertained her childhood friends.

When she finally decided to venture from her backyard, Kathleen pursued a career in storytelling. She graduated from college with a Diploma in Radio and Television Arts and traveled the path of freelance writing for numerous local newspapers. Years later, too many to mention without seeming rude and nosy, Kathleen has channeled her imagination to the pages of her novels. She hopes you enjoy her stories and encourages you to read them on the swing set in your backyard. Kathleen resides in Kelowna BC with her husband, son and dog. Dollars To Donuts is Kathleen's second published novel, and she is currently working on her third, to be published in December 2011.

Amazon.com Book Description:

Take one newspaper columnist; move her from the anonymity of her home city to a sleepy, small town; add a dollop of nosy, suspicious and just plain odd neighbors; a dash of mystery in the form of a stained garbage can and a rodent and, finally, a large pinch of unsettling attraction to a virtual stranger and you'll find yourself with a recipe that imitates April Patterson's life.

Sound strange? It is.

April Patterson had no idea that when she decided to follow the path of family and love, she would find herself an unwitting player in an eyebrow raising cul-de-sac mystery, grasping for her privacy as she plays "Dodge the Neighbor" and being forced to examine her relationship motives ... all before she had unpacked her last box!

Taking a deep breath, and a large bite into a comforting donut, April consoles herself with the knowledge that it will all work out. It always does ... doesn't it?

My Book Review:

What would you do if you moved from a big city to a small town where your neighbors are nosy, meddling and just plain weird? What if you had to play "dodge the neighbor" every time you stepped outside your door? What if you thought that moving in with your boyfriend was a good thing, but now you find yourself reconsidering this decision, especially if you find yourself attracted to the male house guest your boyfriend brought home? This is what April Patterson's life is like when she leaves the big city to move in with her boyfriend ... come take a stroll down April's cul-de-sac neighborhood and find out what happens in Dollars To Donuts!

Just when April Patterson thought that she was settling into small town living with her boyfriend, Kevin, some crazy neighbors, an attractive stranger and two stalkers have April questioning everything in her life!

In April and Kevin's cul-de-sac neighborhood, the neighbors are nosy, meddling, crazy busybodies who watch everyone's activities. Much to April's annoyance, it's like living in a fish bowl, and she resorts to playing "dodge the neighbors" every time she steps outside her door. Added to the daily dose of neighborhood drama, April's live-in boyfriend Kevin brings home an unexpected attractive house guest, Gerritt, and the attraction is mutual. And if  that isn't enough, the neighborhood now has stalkers, this is enough craziness to make a person run back to the city!

With all the craziness and daily drama going on in her life, April starts to wonder if this is really what she wants ... she finds herself at a crossroads in her personal life and she seeks the advice of her older sister, Jessica. What she didn't expect was that Jessica would admonish her for the way she is letting life live her, instead of taking chances and living life. So what's a girl supposed to do? Step into April's world and find out what happens next!

Dollars To Donuts was such a fun book to read, all of the craziness in April's world had me laughing throughout the book. Who doesn't live in a "peyton place" of their very own with nosy meddlesome neighbors? I sure could relate to that and then some! The storyline was very interesting, and the personalities of the characters were realistic and easy to relate to, you either love or hate them. Dollars To Donuts will keep you laughing and guessing what will happen next, right up to the surprise ending! Chick Lit fans, this is a must read, add this book to your collection!
