Book Description:

A heartbroken romance novelist is forced to address her writer's block when the villainous cowboy character from her books shows up in the real world, desperately in need of his own Happily Ever After. . . from the bestselling author of GMA book club pick The Love of My Afterlife.

Gertie Bickerstaff writes happily-ever-afters for a living. . . . Or she did, until her own love life fell apart. Now her ex is thriving, her deadline is looming, and she can’t write a single word.

The last thing Gertie needs is more drama—like waking up to find a confused and rugged cowboy on her sofa. And not just any cowboy, but River Oakley, the villain from her unfinished novel. Somehow very real . . . and very shirtless.

River wants to go home. Gertie wants her life back. So they strike a deal; he’ll use his cunning ways to help her win back her ex, she’ll finish the novel, and, surely, he’ll return to whatever world he rode in from.

But as River Oakley proves to be so much more than just the bad guy, Gertie has to the ending she thought she wanted . . . or the plot twist she never saw coming.

My Book Review:

In Romantic Hero, author Kirsty Greenwood weaves a fun romantic comedy tale of finding unexpected love.

Set in London, the reader is easily drawn into this entertaining rom com as they follow a heartbroken romance writer who is dealing with writer's block and her fictional cowboy character who is unexpectedly transported to the real world after she does a manifestation ceremony.

Romance novelist Gertie Bickerstaff's life isn't going well lately: her live-in boyfriend Henry Irving has recently dumped her and left her brokenhearted; and she has writer's block and the deadline to finish the last book in her series is due to the publisher in two weeks.

Gertie's neighbor Mrs. Casablancas thinks that Gertie needs to manifest her artistic juices, and they hold a manifestation ceremony on the roof of their apartment building during a full moon. Mrs. C tells Gertie to write down her desires, so she writes that she desires to be able to write again and also adds that she wants Henry back. The next day she comes out of her bathroom naked after a shower to find a shirtless cowboy sitting on her sofa! To make matters worse, the cowboy doesn't know how he got there and tells her that his name is River Oakley, the fictional villainous cowboy character in her Bedlam Creek series! Gertie and River think he has been transported via a parallel universe to help her get Henry back and resolve her writer's block. But to no avail, Gertie's writer's block hasn't been resolved, so Gertie and River devise a plan to make Henry jealous and want to come back to her, hoping that it would solve the writer's block and allow her to finish the book on time, and send River back to Bedlam Creek. Will Gertie and River's plan work, or will they discover that he was really sent to be her Romantic Hero?

Romantic Hero is such a fun and flirty romantic comedy that easily keeps the reader engaged as they follow Gertie and River's story. The reader follows along as their unexpected parallel universe partnering helps them rediscover their personal selves as well as an unexpected chance at finding real love and happiness in their lives.

There was a great mixture of emotion, drama, angst, banter, humor and crazy antics mixed in this story. The author does a great job of describing Gertie and River's lives, and how their undeniable chemistry has sparks flying, and their fake relationship becomes something much more real, when they finally realize that they are both where the universe intended them to be all along, in a world of their own.

Romantic Hero is a delightfully entertaining romantic comedy tale that romance fans will certainly enjoy!
