Four authors from Christmas anthology Merry & Bright answered the following question:

What is your and/or your main character's favorite holiday treat/drink?

Libby Mercer: Sometimes my characters' tastes are very different from mine. In particular, I have one who’s a coffee addict, and I can’t stand the stuff myself. But Abbie and I wholeheartedly agree that gingerbread is the best holiday treat, hands down. Abbie loves the taste of mulled wine to get her into the holiday spirit, while I’m partial to hot apple cider (and I won’t say no to a few lashings of rum in the punch bowl). Tis the season!

Isabella Louise Anderson: I love festive holiday drinks, but this year I wanted something a little more soothing—something I could sip on. Being from the south, I love whisky, so when I tired Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Cider, I was in heaven. It’s served warm, which makes it go down smooth. In Meet Me Under the Mistletoe, Lexi’s favorite holiday drink is hot buttered rum. She loves that the drink isn’t too sweet, nor is it complicated to make because she’s no expert in the kitchen. Lexi loves to be curled up on her couch, watching an old movie, while sipping her hot buttered rum.

Lauren Clark: Patricia (PD) is a baker and loves all things sweet. Among her favorite treats to make and eat are red velvet cake, bourbon pecan pie, and traditional Christmas sugar cookie cutouts decorated with frosting, sprinkles, and nonpareils. In the shop, she loves to drink lattes, hot chocolate, and flavored coffee!

Laura Chapman: Autumn Williams may experience a few tummy issues from time to time in Twelve Drummers Drumming, but that doesn’t keep her from downing a few hot chocolates and cookies as the situation calls for it. She’s on vacation at a lodge in Breckenridge, and something about a ski resort screams, “Must serve hot cocoa and carbs.” For something more substantial, she’s looking for comfort food – mashed potatoes, French fries, bread. Basically anything filled with starches that wouldn’t make it on any list of suggested diet foods.
